World-class know-how

With more than a decade of research, JonDeTech possesses a world-leading know-how within the area of vertically configured, nanotechnological IR sensors made of plastic.

The current product measures heat radiation, usable for numerous applications. Among others, making electronics and buildings more energy efficient. Research has been initiated to develop future applications aimed at prolonging battery power by generating electricity from, for instance, body heat.

Strong Intellectual Property Rights strategy

JonDeTech has a very clear IPR strategy and is continuously working to protect the construction-, production- and application designs of- and with the sensor. Up until today, patents have been granted for the configuration of the sensor as well as a couple of application designs. Besides them, a couple of application designs are pending.

Production scalability

Unlike the conventional IR sensors on the market, which are manufactured in specialized production facilities to manage all processes, JonDeTech sensors can be produced with a fabless recipe by ISO certified third party PCB manufacturers.

The great advantage with fabless manufacturing is that the volumes easily can be adjusted to the market demand, without increasing Capex or risking equity capital. The production volumes are estimated to reach levels deemed necessary to become a component supplier to the big consumer electronics companies on the global market.

A sensor that redefines application design

Thanks to the attributes of JonDeTech’s sensor – it’s robust and can be used without encapsulation – it can be used bare and uncalibrated, using a raw signal to detect presence or absence. To use the sensor this way results in an applications design that becomes more efficient in a cost- and size perspective, compared to a conventional sensor, that needs to be built in a metal case with other electrical components to work.

The Sensor market – a continuously growing market of the future
Sensors are used more and more for different functions in consumer electronics as well as in robots, buildings, cars etcetera to collect information, increase energy efficiency or ventilation.
The sensor market has shown strong and stable growth during the past years. The market is requiring sensor suppliers to deliver higher volumes to a more affordable price. A trend that will continue.

Large consumer electronics enterprises are looking for applications to optimize the battery time in laptops, mobile phones, and tablets. Applications that will quickly put the screen to a standby mode if no one is in front of it and start again as soon as someone appears . The markets for screen devices (laptops, mobile phones, tablets, etc.) alone is predicted by Gartner to be an annual 2.1-billion-unit market in the years to come.
